Currently Geraldine, Grant and family from Dumfries Baptist are serving God in North Africa with BMS World Mission. Others from the church have been active in various short-term mission projects overseas including Tanzania, Bangladesh and Portugal.
Eileen McNeill, BMS World Mission
I first served with BMS World Mission in Kosova in 2007. Since then, I have been back to finish a term at the school I worked in, in Dumfries, and to spend 4 months at the International Mission College in Birmingham. I spent 6 months living in the capital city in Kosova, Prishtina, focussing on language development but now I'm back in the town of Vushtrri in North Kosova working with children with special needs and their families. We are proud of our close links with Scripture Union. Many of our young people are enthusiastic SU campers with Blaithwaite being a particular favourite. Several of our number volunteer regularly to be group leaders at camps and school groups. Two or three very special people have been known to cook at camp too!!
Speak to David White if you are interested in finding out more about our international links with SU - in particular the Ukraine. |

Tearfund is a Christian relief and development agency working with a global network of local churches to help eradicate poverty. Their ten-year vision is to see 50 million people released from material and spiritual poverty through a worldwide network of 100,000 local churches. The widespread support within Dumfries Baptist Church for Tearfund's work has continued for more than 20 years.
The Third Drumlanrig Tearfund Challenge took place on 3rd May organized by local Tearfund supporters, led by Rolf Buwert and David Moss. Over 200 cyclists from various parts of the UK turned out to take part in 40 mile or 82 mile routes that took them through Upper Nithsdale in near perfect cycling weather. Over £7000 was raised. |

includes teaching another missionary couple’s son who has special needs, 3 mornings a week; home visits to 4 children with special needs where I leave toys/activities for the family to use with the child between visits; trying to provide adaptive equipment for the children; taking a lesson once a week in the special needs class in the local school; and arranging outings for the children and families with special needs.
I look forward to hearing from you! Eileen |
