Pastors’ Profiles

Alan Donaldson

Alan  became senior pastor of Dumfries Baptist Church in May 2006. Brought up in Denny, in central Scotland, Alan left his job in the printing industry to train for Christian service at London Bible College. Together with his wife Ruth, he spent several years in itinerant children’s ministry before moving to Leven, Fife, in 1993.

At Leven Baptist Church, Alan’s role evolved from children’s and youth pastor to assistant minister and then senior minister. During those thirteen years in Fife, the Leven church built a community centre and became actively involved in serving the local community through toddlers, nursery, after-school care, lunch clubs, quiz nights, etc.

Alan’s vision is for similar community involvement to develop in Dumfries in the coming years so that many in the town may see the love of Christ shared in practical ways.

Alan and Ruth have two children of their own, as well as foster caring for another.
